Long Island Turboprop Charter

Turboprops are among the aircraft Long Island Jet Charter arranges for trips to and from Long Island. The types we arrange seat 4 to 14 passengers, with published ranges from 840 to 1,806 nautical miles. Which one suits your trip depends on the passenger count, the baggage, the distance and the airports at both ends.

Typical Aircraft

The types we arrange in this category are Beechcraft Denali, Beechcraft King Air 100, Beechcraft King Air 250, Beechcraft King Air 260, Beechcraft King Air 360, Beechcraft King Air C90GTx, Cessna Grand Caravan 208B, Daher TBM 900, King Air 200, King Air 350, King Air 90, Piaggio Avanti II, Pilatus PC-12, Socata TBM 700 and Socata TBM 850.

When a Turboprop Fits a Long Island Trip

Turboprops suit short Long Island trips, such as Boston, Washington or a run out to the East End, with a small group and a modest amount of baggage. They cost less per hour than a jet, and on a short leg the time difference is small.

Cabin size, baggage space and range vary across these 15 types, so send us the details and we will narrow the list down for you.

Whether a particular aircraft can use a particular Long Island airport on your date is the operator’s call for that aircraft, its weight and the day’s conditions, and your advisor will confirm it before anything is booked.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Long Island-Specific Patterns We Plan Around

Long Island has two travel seasons. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, most people fly out to the Hamptons on a Thursday or Friday evening and come back on Sunday evening or Monday morning, so those dates fill first. The rest of the year, flights leave the island for business, for Florida in the winter and for family trips. Republic in East Farmingdale and MacArthur in Ronkonkoma serve the western and central island, East Hampton and Gabreski in Westhampton Beach serve the Hamptons, and Montauk takes jets only with the airport’s prior permission. Long Island shares the busy New York airspace, so weather that slows the city’s airports can slow a Long Island flight too, and hurricane season runs from June 1st to November 30th.
